Friends are Flowers

 Happy Thursday AI Friends!

Oh Man, I had such a fun time making this card.  My inspiration came from a combination of the newly released Story Tile sets and die as well as the current blog challenge "The People In Your Neighborhood".  For my card, I used the #5798 - Gardening Girlfriend set, the #6177 - Garden Friends set and the #6158 - Story Tile Template Die as well as a few accessories from some other sets that are listed below.

I started by stamping all of the images onto copic friendly paper with Memento black ink and colored with my copic markers listed below.  I decorated some of the images with my white marker (you can also use the Dr. PH Martin white paint).  I fussy cut the girl as well as the story tile garden images.

I cut the story tile window frame from a piece of pink cardstock and a piece of pattern paper from the #6051 - Mother's Day PP.  I layered the pattern paper over the pink cardstock and shifted it slightly to the right and upwards so that the pink showed through the window slightly.  This provided a nice little contrast and helped pop up the images as well as the pattern papers underneath.  Then a die cut some other pattern papers from this paper pack with the story tile die and placed them behind the pink frame.

I stamped the sentiment from the Garden Friends set and adhered behind the narrow window.  I popped up each of the images with foam tape into the other windows and decorated the pots and boots with flowers from the #5935 - Fairytale houses set and the #6076 - Gardener Gail set.  To finish off the card, I colored a few bees from the Fairytale Houses set and placed them near the flowers.

Make sure to check out the newly released sets and also the bi-weekly blog challenge for a chance to win a free stamp set of your choice.  We love to see your creations!

Thanks for joining me today!  Have a wonderful day and keep creating!

Playing in the Dirt

 Happy Thursday AI Friends!

Summer came and went soooo fast but I still want to play in the dirt.  We are definitely headed into fall here but some of you may still have some great summer weather left so hopefully you feel inspired to go play for those of us that can't.  ๐Ÿ˜€

I combined #5000 - Gotta Garden set and #5817 - Potting Garden Shed to create this interactive card.  This is a larger than normal card but it's a fun size - 8 1/5 x 5.

I started out by stamping the images onto copic friendly paper with Memento black ink and colored with copic markers listed below.  I fussy cut the images.  The garden shed is a watercolor stamp set and has a few garden pots at the base, so I just fussy cut them off and popped up the boots and garden hose over the cut area.  I also cut an opening in the door and placed some tools and garden gloves inside.  These accessories are from the #SC0650 - His & Hers Gardeners set.  I also colored and cut some flowers from the #5935 - Fairytale Houses set.

I die cut a slider track into the dirt panel and placed the playful couple onto a disk that pops through both sides of the track to allow for the movement.  I then popped up the dirt panel, making sure not to place pop dots or foam tape to close to the slider track.  You could use a pull tab, but I chose to move the couple back and forth with my fingers.

Check out the video below to see the interactive movement.

That's it for me today.  Hope you have a wonderful day!
Keep on creating!!

Gardener Gail

 Happy Thursday AI Friends!

WOW! WOW! WOW!  Have you seen the newest Art Impressions release?  OMGosh this release has got to be the best EVER!  I just LOVE the girlfriends line and this is right up that alley.  Add the papers to go with and WOW!  Bonnie and Joel knocked it out of the park with this release!
Picture a happy dance right now!!  Sorry, no video attached.  LOL!

My card for today uses #6076 - Gardener Gail.  These AI People are so fun to color and they are a great size (about 3 1/2 inches tall).  And the best part, they come with corresponding dies!
I stamped each of the images onto copic friendly paper with Memento black ink and colored with my copic markers (colors listed below).  The bee and flowers come from the #5925 - Honey Bee stamp set and the papers are from two different paper packs - #5742 - Easter PP and #5939 - Fairy Garden PP.
The watering can with the little flower is from the #5336 - Garden mini dies.  These mini dies make such a cute little addition to any card.  I love them as a simple accent or a charm hanging from a bow.  Adds a perfect extra little touch.

Make sure to check out yesterday's watercolor wednesday video  to see and hear all about the other sets.  Also, make sure to visit this blog daily for other inspirations.  There will be many more posts for these as well as other available sets.

Thanks for joining me today!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy creating!

Blossom and Blooms

 Hello AI Friends!

I am so excited to feature our newest blog challenge - "Blossoms and Blooms".  I definitely drew the lucky straw on this challenge.  Who doesn't love florals?  Especially with all the beautiful pattern papers and floral stamps/dies from Art Impressions.  I have to say it was pretty hard to decide which ones to use but, man, it was fun playing and I have lots left over for future projects.

I ended up using the #6041 - Flower & Bug die set as well as the scallop circle dies from the #5588 - Journal Oval Frames and the #5543 - Journal Template die set.

I started off by die cutting a bunch of floral pieces from an assortment of AI pattern papers #6051 - Mother's Day PP and #5955 - Encouragement PP using the scallop dies and the flower die mentioned above.  Don't forget to die cut the small floral centers too.  These papers all coordinate so nicely so it was fun putting the flowers together.
I added a lot of dimension to my flowers by layering with a shift, curling and crimping.  If you don't prefer the dimension, you can layer flat, curl under vs. upward or ink the edges.

Flowers using the #6041 - Flower & Bug die set
Curl the petals upwards using a rounded tip of a paint brush, skewer, etc.  (see striped pedal below)
Crimp the petals using the paint brush by placing the brush in the middle of the petal and pinch the sides up. (see floral petal below).
After curling and crimping all pedals, place some glue to the back center of the floral petal and adhere to striped petal at a shift to the right so that the striped petal shows through the floral petal.  Adhere the flower center with a pop dot (or glue if no dimension preferred).  For the finished flower, see the top center of the final project above.

Flowers using the scallop circles from the #5588 - Journal Oval frames and the #5543 - Journal Template die set.
These are prepared the same as above except it has an extra layer and includes a first step to perform on all of the scallop pieces.
Take the scallop circle and cut towards the center every other scallop (see striped piece below).  Be careful not to cut too far so that it doesn't cut into another slit.  This does not have to be perfect as it will be covered by the next petal.
Do this for each petal and then curl and crimp each petal as above.  See picture below - step 1, 2, 3.  Do each step for each petal.  Glue each pedal together or pop up for added dimension.  Adhere small circle to the center.   Finished scallop flower should resemble the bottom left of the project.

Now, for the flower pot.
Cut two 4 x 4 inch pieces of kraft cardstock.  Mark, with a pencil, at 1/4" from the left and right of one 4" side.  Line up the pencil mark on your trimmer and shift the cardstock so that it cuts at an angle to the opposite corner tip.  Do the same for the other side.  This will create the angle of the flower pot.
Using the #6009 - Basic Green PP, I cut a piece of green striped paper for the front of the pot, in the same way as the base of the pot, just leaving a slight edge of the base showing.  If you want to place a ribbon on the front (like I did), make sure to adhere to this piece before gluing the pattern paper to the flower pot.  Tuck the edges of the ribbon around the pattern paper.
Cut two strips of 4 3/8" x 2" using the #5972 - Decorative Margin die.  Try to line up the scallop edge to be even on both sides.  Determine how much of this you want to be your pot top.  I cut mine down to 1 1/4" vs. the 2", but this is up to you.  I also rounded the top edges with a corner rounder before adhering with foam tape to the pot.  Now that you have a front and back of the pot, let's create the sides to make it stand and hold the card insert.
Sides - Cut two strips of 3 3/4 x 1" and score and fold (M, V, M) at 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4" down the long edge.  Glue the mountain sides to the front and back of the pot, just inside the edge so it doesn't show from the front or back.  (See picture below.)
I also cut an easel piece from kraft cardstock using #5902 - Mini Scallop Frame die.  Adhere it to the back side of the pot.  This is to assure that your flower pot will stand firmly.

For the card insert, I cut a 3 1/2" by 5 1/4" piece of kraft cardstock for the mat and a 3 1/4" by 5" piece of white cardstock for the sentiment.  Using one of the newest release sets #6062 - Hydrangea Floral set, I stamped the sentiment onto the card insert and another one of the sentiments onto a piece of green striped paper left over from the pot front.  I picked up some plastic plant picks from the dollar tree and adhered the sentiment onto it.

Now, for the funnest part, arranging the flowers into the pot.  This is your preference and might depend on how tall you want your card to be.  My card measures just under 5 x 7.  After arranging my flowers, I added some leaf sprigs die cut from a piece of the Green Basic PP, using a die from my stash, and placed them sporadically within the flowers.  I then adhered the plant pick to the inside of the flower box with strong glue.  Lastly, I added a few extra touches to the front of my flower pot.  I tied a piece of twine and added the garden tool charms to a jump ring and knotted onto the twine.  I added a pink ribbon bow and a die cut heart to the sentiment and the watering can.

Crazy Garden Lady

 Happy Thursday AI Friends!

Today I have a fun birthday card featuring the #5000 Gotta Garden set.  A friend of mine loves to garden so this image was just perfect for her birthday card.  I definitely would not call her crazy but she is crazy about gardening.  LOL!

I stamped the image on copic friendly paper with Memento black ink and colored her with my copic markers listed below.  I just love the expressions on all of Bonnie's people stamp sets.  They just exude fun and laughter!

I die cut the image panel with one of the #5063 Rectangle A2 Double Stitch die and then placed onto a pattern paper panel from the #5892 Easter S2 PP.  I then matted it with orange cardstock.  I die cut each of the sentiments, that also came in this stamp set, with a tag die from the #5132 Tag Stitched die set.  I partial cut the tag and then used the same die to also cut off the flag portion and leave the stitch pattern.
I used a scallop edge die from my stash to cut the narrow strips on each side and placed a long narrow strip of orange cardstock over the seams of the pattern paper and the scallop border.  Placed some enamel dots on the card to finish it off.

I hope you enjoy my card today.
Have a wonderful day and keep creating!
